CHAPTER 2 : METODOLOGI COFFEE

Some cafés are loud in character, eager to make an impression the moment you arrive. Metodologi Coffee chooses a different path. Hidden in a quiet part of Cihapit, this small café doesn’t compete for attention. Instead, it draws you in gently with leafy corners, soft light, and an air of calm that wraps around you the moment you step inside.

It is not grand. It is not glossy. But that’s exactly why people love it. Metodologi feels personal. It feels like a spot you stumble upon when you need to take a breath, sip something simple, and let the world move a little slower.

FACILITIES

Metodologi Coffee keeps things minimal, but thoughtful. Most of its seating is located outdoors or in a semi-covered area, which creates a laid-back, airy atmosphere. You can choose to sit under leafy shade while listening to soft background music, or settle into one of the quieter corners where sunlight filters through just enough to warm the table.

Inside, the space is small, but it never feels cramped. The arrangement is tidy, and everything feels in place. There is no over-decoration—just ornamental plants here and there, adding life without overwhelming the space. The natural light carries most of the weight during the day, with only a few lamps inside providing gentle support when the sun fades.

Although it is not built as a co-working space, the café does offer free Wi-Fi. You may need to look around a bit for charging spots, as they are limited. There is a restroom available for customers, which is kept clean and easy to find. One thoughtful feature that not all cafés this size provide is a small musholla. Tucked away but accessible, it reflects how Metodologi takes care of its guests in subtle ways.

There is no dedicated parking area, but you can usually find space right in front of the café along the street. It might not be ideal during busy hours, but it’s manageable for most visitors.

PRICES

The menu at Metodologi is straightforward, affordable, and reliable. While the café doesn’t label any specific item as a “signature,” their range of coffee and non-coffee drinks comes at reasonable prices, typically between fifteen thousand and twenty-three thousand rupiah.

During our visit, we found the pricing very much aligned with the quality. Drinks arrived well-prepared, portions were decent, and the flavors delivered on what was promised. There were no discounts or promotional offers available at the time, but the standard pricing

MENU VARIETY

Metodologi keeps its menu refreshingly simple. You won’t find extravagant plating or overly sweet drinks with layers of syrup. Instead, the café focuses on clean, balanced flavors that match the tone of the space itself.

The drink options include manual brew coffee for purists, along with milk-based drinks and tropical teas for those looking for softer or sweeter options. Cold-pressed juices bring a splash of freshness to the list, while mocktails add something more playful. The drink menu leans toward modern café culture but avoids feeling too commercial.

When it comes to food, the café offers only a few choices, and all of them fall into the “light bite” category. The cireng rujak, crispy on the outside with that signature chewy texture inside, comes with bold dipping sauce that makes it surprisingly addictive. French fries are served in a generous portion, hot and lightly salted—simple but satisfying. Their mini donuts arrive in threes, fluffy and sugar-coated, perfect alongside an iced coffee or fruit tea.

There are no desserts in the traditional sense, and no seasonal specials were offered during our visit. But in a space like this, simplicity feels intentional. It gives you just enough to enjoy your drink, stay a while, and maybe order one more before you leave. You can also ask the staff for small customizations, such as adjusting the sweetness of your drink. They are open to requests, and happy to accommodate them.

SERVICES

Metodologi’s service reflects its entire atmosphere—quiet, steady, and sincere. When you arrive, you order directly at the counter. The menu is displayed clearly, and the staff is ready to answer questions or help you decide between drink options.

There is no showiness in the way they interact. Instead, you get a genuine welcome and a calm energy that matches the surroundings. The drink preparation takes only a few minutes, and while there’s no flashy presentation, everything is served with care.

Although we didn’t have a chance to give formal feedback or observe how the staff handles complaints, the overall environment suggests a team that values consistency. No one hovers or rushes. You are left to enjoy your time with your drink, your thoughts, or your company.
